The Departure (Part 1 of 3 of the The Voyage)

I am back for the time being! And with my first ever free verse poem.

The winds call out to me as I look out to sea
They whisper into my ear, promises, promises of excitement,
of adventure, of companionship! With these promises the wind had compelled me

to prepare, with a force far greater than the greatest storm.
For in a few months I am to board a ship, a ship of destiny,
the vehicle through which I ride to my future.

However with the winds come great demons. The demons, who long dormant
was awoken with the arrival of the winds. They plant vines around
the rock of my person. Corroding it with lies and doubts.

"You are not fit for the task", "Nobody loves an eccentric",
"The ship you are boarding is will lead you to torment",
"You will die, alone and unloved, Just another man, a nobody"

However as time flew and I find myself setting foot on the great ship,
A great epiphany came to me, I mutter "So What? No Matter! I, will, be, great!"
At the sound of these words, the great winds came and swept the demons away.
I board the ship, my mind at peace.
