In Russia we have Subbotniks ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subbotnik ) - voluntary Saturday work, days when people who want to clear their karma clear parks and etc.
I almost hate this days, because when I was at school years ago for us (pupils) it was not voluntary work. We necessarily went to the parks and gather garbage, cigarettes, used syringes... Very fun objects for kids, yeah?
I know, it's important to keep your city clean, but all we need for this - just not to throw garbage everywhere.
