To welcome to the 26 new subscribers (wow!!! thank you guys so much for your support I am floored) I decided to give you guys an EXTRA taste of a character almost as important as the gods - Cerberus!
Cerberus in this story is a pretty normal dog, aside from the fact that he has three temperaments.
His left head, the "compassion" head, looks upon all souls entering the Underworld kindly and gives the benefit of the doubt. Its coat is the lightest and is modeled after feather markings.
His center head, the "true thought head," is responsible for mediating between the two other heads and coming to conclusions. As a result, its coat is a brindle mix of light and dark.
His right head, the "judgment" head, is docile to incoming souls but extremely suspicious of anyone approaching him from the inside. This head rarely sleeps and will be the first to wake the other two in order to pursue any souls attempting to escape. Unless they cause him special trouble, Hades has forbidden that head from devouring any souls attempting escape. It likes to pick fights with the left head.
Cerberus stands 30" at the shoulder, or more accurately, 2'6". This places him at roughly hip height on Hades. In order to accompany Hades when he steps out of the Underworld (he loves to go for walks), he splits himself into two dogs, one with the Compassion and Justice sides, leaving the Judgment side to guard the entrance to the Underworld until he returns. The only individuals besides Hades that all three of his heads tolerate or like are Persephone, Hermes, Cassandra, and Medusa. (You'll meet Cass and Medusa later on.)
