Sonnet #1: The Scourge of Age

Here is that sonnet I promised, this is the first time I have ever made such a rigid poem so I had some difficulty, but hey! It was fun. :D
Age is the greatest nuisance man was sent
It saps away man's golden strength
Turns them to husks, their figures bent
Brings suspense of unimaginable length
It withers away once vibrant flowers
Extinguishes the flames of stars once bright
A reminder of decay that towers
Of how the strong fell into the dark night
Small wonder that a refuge's been sought
From this demon that preys on us all
From a false fountain to false creams they bought
All in the hope that man's glory won't fall
Yet behind it all lies a gift the greatest,
The sheer wisdom obtained from life's great test.
