Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime stars the “Lovers”, an intergalactic police force that protects the main energy generation station powered by (you guessed it) love. When the forces of “anti-love” (I’m not making this up) threatens to destroy the very fabric of reality it is up to you, your friends, and a circular spaceship to stop it.
--Verdict--
Art: Everything is VIBRANT neon. Like, my goodness, this game is stupid bright. The first time I played this game I had a cold, and needed to stop after getting a headache from how neon it was. But all in all, it works really well – the lively colors add to the hecticness of the game in ways that only the brightest of pinks and yellows could accomplish.
Gameplay: PLAY LOCAL CO-OP – this game is built for it. You and up to four friends are tasked with sprinting between various rooms of your spaceship to man various parts of its capabilities - be it guns, the engine, or the ridiculously small shield that moves far too slow to have been created by the greatest space bunny minds in the universe. I played two-player on the hardest difficulty – because we are gluttons for punishments – and the sheer amount of laughter and screaming brought many a spectator into the room wondering what all of the ruckus was about.
Replayability: Very high. First off – each level’s hazards are randomly generated, so even if you rocked it the first time you may accidentally set off a nuke in a minefield the second time around. Also, playing with different people means different team dynamics, resulting in entirely different strategies and gameplay.
Would I recommend? Definitely. This game was hilarious, and a great game to play with a group of friends. Just don’t play if you’re headache-prone, and be prepared to scream. A lot.
