It's easy to lament Trump's immediate (and extensive) use of executive orders but we should have seen this coming. Every time a sitting president is in office and the opposing party controls the legislature, he uses the executive order to accomplish things he wants to do. Reagan did it, Bush I did it, Clinton did it, Bush II did it, and Obama did it.
Which was frustrating but not unduly dangerous under any of those presidents, who clearly fell in the "not a lunatic" category.
Well, now a lunatic is in office. Maybe those executive orders were a bad idea all along because they set a terrible precedent for someone who is willing to blatantly abuse their power and has no real regard for the laws and processes of this nation.
