I love this story but I have no clue whats going on. Tails? Cain is perfect because if imperfect conception? If they had designer babies wouldn't it be very easy to outmatch Cain by just replicating and improving those genes. The opening looked like it was in our present times but this takes place in the future? Does Cain move backwards in time instead of forwards? Or does he just time hop wherever and whenever he feels like it. Your dropping whole lot of questions with little to no answers. Don't get me wrong love your story to bits so far but will these question be answered any time soon?

The Story of Man has been lasting for millions of years, and in millions of years, millions of stories or a million versions of the same story were passed down to us.
All equally true, all equally false, like the people who lived them and lived to tell them.
I know a story that contains them all, as contradictory as they may seem, they never cancel each other out.
I know the Story. The true Story of Man.

Nevertheless, we all have a right to cling to a reasonable doubt; I am just a witness, not very objective and very much involved, in my pupil's story.

Then again if you don't believe in angels... feel free to believe in nothing at all!
