A world of limited magic, only made unlimited by the use of familiars. Of course, mistreatment of familiars was a common occurrence, and to keep the peace, a caste system was made so that the most powerful and magically-adept would be able to look after their towns; cities; countries. However, familiar summoning is unpredictable and if one does not have a sufficient amount of Desire to enact a contract, death is imminent.
Suzume, the High Priestess of Crystalline City, fears familiar summoning. However, due to her need for respect and prestige, she is pressured into a public summon at her school. Things go awry, and a lower caste student saves her in the chaos. In a twist of events, the all powerful demon Suzume tried to summon goes to her savior, Yuzuru, whose Desire isn't to be laughed at.
Yuzuru wants to watch the world burn, in some cases literally, and Suzume must help her.
