E15: Hair Salon Anxiety

I'm 30 years old and haven't had my hair professionally cut since I was in college. How, you may ask, have I managed this? Well, it's a combination of letting my hair grow out until I can't take it anymore and then standing in front of my bathroom mirror snipping at my locks with a scissors. At one point I even experimented with my husbands razor, clipping my hair down to in inch in length. I don't look very good with a buzzed head.

Ok, so that's the how, but what's the why? Well, if you follow my Anxiety and Me podcast, you know that I struggle with anxiety. Anxiety, unfortunately, doesn't leave me alone when it comes to getting my hair cut. The two main things that get me, when it comes to visiting a salon, are the giant mirror I'm forced to stare at the whole time and the awkward conversations. Nothing against people who cut hair, it's not you, it's me. Really, it's me.
