Absolutely horrified of spiders? Believe me, you're not alone ^^;. This actually happened after I came home from work one day and found a creepy, fat spider waiting for me in the basement DX.

Once a cricket or something wandered into our house and I used the same method you did here except with a shoe. I went crazy with the stomping and grinding but it didn't die. thankfully it was injured enough that my cat could catch and eat it. feel a little bad though
