It's hard to let go of a dream.
I recently learned that I didn't get any scholarships to my dream college. I did get accepted, and applied for private certified housing (and got in), and even got an internship there, but with no scholarships, I can't afford to go. It was really hard when my parents sat me down and told me that we couldn't afford for me to go since I didn't get any scholarships (only 10% of students get scholarships from my program).
I went outside and sat on our front porch for a long time, listening to music. And I kept staring at this dandelion growing right in front of me. It had one wilted flower and one bud that was about to bloom...
And this metaphor came to mind.
So I made this comic to make myself feel better. ^^ I hope, to those of you out there who didn't get into your dream schools, that maybe this can encourage you a little.
Also hang in there! It's hard when we seem to fail at what we aim for. But remember that even in failure we gain. We've gained experience, empathy, and have grown in strength. :) Whether you succeed or fail, you're growing stronger as a person and that will open up more paths ahead for you!
The awkward adventures of an Asian in college. 90% true, 10% exaggeration, excluding the occasional daydream.
But still a slice of an awkward Asian life. Also where I dump sketches and random fanart.
