Hair is just hair and I've put it through a lot. I've dyed it, chopped it, and burned it once (that was scary).
It doesn't define me as a person, but it helps me figure out my choices. Before, I wanted long hair because people would call me pretty and girly. Now, I want short hair because I want people to see me as either male, female, or neither. I'm happy when I get confused for a man, I'm happy when I get confused for a woman, and I'm happy when people use they/them pronouns. While I do still identify as a woman, I also identify as everything else, hence why I cut my hair. The hair I have now is definitely making me happy and reflects how I feel inside and out.
