For those wondering, it's pronounced just like it's spelled: "Mole" (like the rodent) and "bash" (as if you're going to hit said rodent). And, yes, I've heard "Whack-a-mole" jokes MY ENTIRE LIFE.
But I digress...
Having a weird last name means you have to spell it a lot for people. Especially if you're placing an order or making a reservation. I hate spelling my last name over the phone to people, so I've recently taken to using my first name when I order pizza. I feel like the name "Wes" is pretty hard to screw up.
But people still do.
Whenever I give "Wes" as the name for my order, most of the time the response is "West?" To which I reply, "No, not the direction. Just 'Wes'. No 'T'." The person on the other end of the line then responds with, "Oh! OK! So, 'West'?" At this point I just concede and pretend my last name is West.

Do you have a weird last name? What kind of problems do you run into when your surname comes into play out in the real world?
