Don't be too harsh on Charlie for thinking Nick is straight. Charlie's very pessimistic and doesn't think much of himself - plus, Nick hasn't really given off many obvious 'signals' yet beyond being a very friendly friend. I expect Charlie will be re-thinking things very soon...
