I saw this J.D. Salinger quote and knew that I must make a comic out of it. The quote is open to many interpretations, I suppose.
My take is that Happiness is a solid. Happiness is a tangible thing. It can be given and received. It can be held. It can be lost. It can be destroyed.
Joy is a liquid. It flows and ebbs, but it cannot be controlled. Joy goes where it wishes. All you can do is brace yourself when Joy surges over you. It is brief yet intense.
There is just something about Celeste; something charming, something weird, something special. She is a young woman thrust into the world of adulthood. Celeste has a childlike wonder and charm, and her fantastic daydreams overlap into her mundane daily affairs.
