Varama kalai is the “art of vital points” or pressure points.
It is a traditional practice originating in south India usually associated with traditional massage, alternative medicine and martial arts in which, the pressure points on the human body are manipulated in defense (healing) or offense(martial arts). South India in ancient times placed lots of importance to martial arts and prided in their martial strength. Ancient techniques of the south other than Varma kalai include, Kuttuvarisai– a self defense technique that is weapon free that works on defense and offense simultaneously, Silambu-stick fight much like Neel, Ghusti– free style wrestling, Kallari– all encompassing martial arts that emphasizes body form, Aduthadi– fight art.
Neel and Manu travel in an ancient world, trying to find who they are. Their journey takes them through cursed lands and strange creatures who once held power. Perhaps they will find themselves at the end of the journey.
