This might sound weird but I appreciate the 8th panel. In stories like this it's always "If you're not a main character you die without killing one of the monsters". But there's a lot of dead bears around the police barricade. Yeah, humans fought and lost. But we see that they FOUGHT and it actually mattered for once.
