"Where do you come from?" She asked.
Stabbing and grazing the fish with his fork, he gave up, instead, he drank water from a wooden cup with holes. "I'm from La Paz."
"La Paz? From what kingdom?"
"Um... Iloilo?"
Giving him a half smile before continuing. "I've never heard of that place. How did you get on the island?"
"The... island?" He paused, the piece of fish meat dropping from his fork.
She nodded.
"What island?"
"Avery Island. You could only get here on a boat, airships can't land due to the dense forest. Was there anyone else with you?"
He sat his hands on the side of his dish. "The last thing I remembered... was fighting with Mama."
"Your mother?"
Silence filled the air, only the faint creaking of the wind swaying the stubborn wooden cottage into a dance was heard.
"Mama tucked me in, even though I was mad at her for not going to the doctor. Her cough was getting worse... I was tired... I slept early."
"You fought your mother? Is she here? Wait... doctor?"
"I woke up in a very cold room, there was a letter, and then a voice and then there was something behind the door and --"
"Whoa, slow down, nobody's chasing you."
"There was! I saw red eyes! It cut my feet when I was going out of the window! Inside that room!"
"What room?"
His eyes dropped, avoiding her gaze. "I don't-- I got lost when I was running... I saw this light, so I went here, then I slipped down a muddy slide... then you came."
"I see. Relax, nothing's gonna hurt you here."
"I-- I just wanna go home! I don't want mama to worry! It'll make her more sick!"
"Okay, okay. We'll put some medicine on those cuts and get you back home."
