"Al-- My sword, it's inside the room. I just need to get some stuff." She whispered.
Ducking down, she lightly stepped her way into the kitchen.
The sword was still resting beside the bed. It feels... very light. Putting the strap around his shoulder, he paused, stroking a carving on the leather casing. I know these symbols. This is the letter--
"What are you doing?" Tilting her head while watching the boy stroking the sword. "Come on!"
The shadows were still scattered about as they lightly ducked their way to the back.
The glass shattered, a loud thud quaked into his hands and knees. She signaled him not to make a sound. The wooden floors creaked and squeaked just a few steps away from them.
"Come on, let's get out of here." She whispered.
Hold on, something's missing. Wait! My pajamas!
"Where are my pajamas?"
"...What?"
"My yellow pajamas!"
A thud came from behind them, barking. "Go!" She twisted the door open, he jumped out as she closed it tight, it was beating the door, hitting and scratching it. "That was close."
"Um... Mira?" Pointing upwards, there was one covering the roof, the others, creeping from the side, honing in on them.
Slowly they stepped back until they had enough distance. "My pajamas!" He shouted, pulling the yellow garments from the line it was hung.
Howling, sending intense shock waves up their spines. "Run!"
Branches were close to their bodies, trees, standing like shadowy creatures aimed to grab them, the ground felt like cream, "Keep moving! Don't look back!" She shouted.
His vision was leaving him once more, he held the side of his stomach, gripping it tightly through the garment. "Mira... It hurts!" Glancing back at the boy, in the middle of the mud, gasping for air.
The branches broke. "Get back!" Shielding him, she took a vile from her strap and tossed it. Giant white spikes pointed into the sky, creating a cloud of snow. She uncovered her eyes, inches away from her was the ice sculptor of teeth, three of them were trapped inside the ice prison.
Briefly chuckling, she turned her attention to the boy and grabbed him by the hand. "I saw more of them, we're not out of the mud yet." Running on solid land, the trees were opening up, grass, at knee height.
The sudden rush of danger sent her screaming down the ground as it broke under her feet, the boy, just behind her.
Sliding down the muddy hole, grazed by roots and being hit by blunt rocks, curving and looping under the earth. A little rat creature was merrily digging when they passed by behind him screaming, it only sniffed around before returning to work on its tunnel.
He felt the air carry him, momentarily flying before a huge splash snapped him out of his daydream. Submerged in cold water, he started paddling to regain his balance. "Mira!"
"Here!" Resting on the edge of a rock, he dog-paddled his way to her.
"Are you okay?"
"Fine, how about you?"
"Just my tummy." Limping above the water.
"Don't worry, it'll go away. Come on, we gotta find land."
