"What do we do?" She asked, hearing a muffled response from the boy while her hand felt a warm breath tickle her palm. "Oh! Sorry."
"I don't know, but we gotta help him!" He said, gasping for air.
"You want us to fight that thing? That thing'll kill us!"
A loud smashing noise echoed across the cave, the monster and the dog were locked in combat. "No time to play hero here. Help me find a way out." She asked.
Sneaking away from the fighting, he looked around for an exit but saw a huge blockade of rock stopping the flow of water. Without hesitation, he moved quickly to the towering rocks.
The dog was now on the ground, wounded, the monster roared victoriously, it glanced at the running boy. "Mira! The rocks! If we can take away the rocks-" It roared at him.
"What are you doing! Get back here! There's no way you can push those rocks away!" A splashing dive surprised her, the monster was already struggling to reach the boy, crawling its way across the river again. "F-Fine! Fine! Do it! Go! I'll distract this thing!"
His muscles tensed, water ran down his hands, he tried pushing the cold rock. "Hey! Over here! Over here you ugly piece of..." He heard the girl screaming, but her provocation had no effect. She decided to pick up rocks and started throwing them at the monster.
One pebble landed on its head, aggravated, it switched targets. "Oh, no..." She dropped the remaining rocks and slowly stepped back, the monster was already in front of her, readying its claws.
The rocks were stubborn, each one not yielding to the boy's strength, regardless of his efforts, the blockade stayed the same. What should I do? Wait... Is Mira okay? Looking at the girl, she was being devoured by the pillaring shadow of the monster.
"Huh?" Moments passed, her hands shielding her from an attack, but nothing happened. Peeking, she saw the monster trembling, it's hand in the air was twitching. She lowered her guard down, gazing into the eyes of the monster.
I have to do something! Mira is in trouble... what do I do... what do I do...
"Hey! Ugly!" He screamed, the monster immediately turning its head towards the boy, sprinting towards him. He quickly climbed the towering rocks.
"No!" She shouted, catching up to the monster.
Halfway up the blockade, the monster, already behind him, swiping right and left with its claws, occasionally hitting the rocks away from their cascading columns. The girl was throwing more rocks at the beast, yet it still pursued the boy.
He reached the top, the monster, moments away. A ledge was just beside him, shaking his hands and lightly shifting his feet, his body started to burn, his limbs, heating up, he held the walls with one hand and shifted his body towards the ledge.
His chest pounded, head hurting with every beat of his heart. He felt a graze of fur on his left cheek as he jumped, clawing his hands on the ledge.
Crumbling noises started bellowing out of control behind him, a roaring wave of air entered the cave along with a blast of raging water hitting the ground. He dug his fingers into the rock, closing his eyes and turning his arms into stone.
