Dawn broke, silently they traveled, the girl, holding her little brother close, noticed the boy growing silent.
"Save yourself." The same whispering voice came to his attention, from the distant mist, a figure representing a knight stood in the haze. They passed him by, not stopping to linger in his presence.
Now at the foot of a bridge, it extended far away into a single mountain covered in the morning mist. "All that is left, is for you to plant the seed. You must be the one to do it." Author said.
Dismounting from the dog. "But... Origin was destroyed." He said.
"The girl merely tore down its walls, the soil is still intact, untouched by the decay. Quickly, you must make haste."
Save yourself, break the seed, servants of Author. The words flooded his doubtful mind. At the side of the bridge just before he could set out, he extended his hand with the seed inside on the cliff. "What are you doing?" Author said.
"I want answers."
"Answers?"
"If I plant the seed, will I go home afterward?" He asked, Author, did not reply. He extended his hand further.
"No! No... It will not."
"Then, what if I break it?" Author once more wavered.
"Lie and I'll throw this seed into the ocean so no one will ever find it ever again!"
Author paused before aligning his gaze on the boy.
"Breaking it will send you home. A portal will appear, you will return to your home world."
How did I get here? And who is Elisai?" He asked, Author prepared himself to explain.
"...You were next in line to be summoned. But I did not anticipate how he severed my powers, so I made a plot on paper, to briefly tell you the premise of our situation."
"...What? I don't understand."
"Elisai, is not a person. It is a name given to those chosen by Writer."
"The God of creation?" The girl asked.
"Yes, those deemed worthy of the title 'savior' were summoned here from another realm only known by Writer, the warrior then, will aid me in keeping the peace and retain order."
Curious, the boy's attention was centered toward Author.
"Then what happened to Elisai?" He asked.
"The decay you see before you were brought about by me."
"What?"
"Mother was dying, because of the excessive growth of humanity. I only did what I needed to do to save her, by reducing the populace."
"You... You monster! You were the cause of all this!" Her voice, shaking with anger.
"Regardless of my efforts, she still passed away. I only have myself to blame, for the plague I set out to halve life also reached her and sped her death."
"I don't believe this... gods... they don't just die." She said.
"They turn into ashes and get swept away by the wind. I set Elisai on a journey to retrieve the heir, yet he betrayed me the moment he knew the truth about my plot."
He loosened his hand, "Tell me."
"I merely want to nurture. If you plant the seed, I will gain ownership of the heir and all of her powers, thus, giving me a connection."
"Then, I was only used to deliver this..."
"I cannot stress how important it is for you to plant it, only by your hands can I have control."
"And what about me? What about Mira's village? What about the innocent people you killed!"
"My duty was to protect the peace, without mother, life would cease to exist."
"You're no god! You're a murderer!" She screamed.
"Perhaps, you are right. Then I will waver no longer." The dog kicked the girl off the cliff.
"Mira!"
"Stand where you are." Author said. The girl was at the edge, holding for dear life while the other dog pinned the unconscious boy down, preparing to rip his neck out. "I'm curious, Writer mentioned a forthcoming. Another god would join the fray and become your voice."
He did not respond.
"Replacing me as your savior. So, tell me, where is your god now?"
He clenched his teeth, tightening his grip on the seed, nearly crushing it in his hand.
"Reader will save you." The whispering voice came once more.
"Deliver the seed to its bed, or the girl and boy will die." Author exclaimed.
"Allen! No!" She screamed, "Help...! Help Allen please!"
"Mira needs the seed so she could make medicine!" He said.
"You wish to use your salvation for their selfish endeavors?"
"It's not selfish! It's better than letting you control everything!"
"Child, by allowing me to become part of the heir, I shall provide them enough medicinal elements for their tinkering pleasure. Besides, without my guidance, the heir will not last."
"And make you more powerful? After you killed a lot of people?"
"I grow impatient. No mere child can command me. If you want this to end, then hear me,"
Author readied his proclamation.
"Leave now and damn this world to oblivion. Or, save your friends at the cost of your own salvation."
The girl lost her grip, but the dog stepped on her hand, making her dangle half conscious on the cliff. "your choice, spectator."
The boy was stunned, the seed felt heavy, he held it tight as he rooted his feet firmly on the ground. Glancing at the girl tiredly dangling from the cliff, Mira...! What... what do I do? What do I... What do I do?
In his pocket, the arm of his sunny pajamas was popping out, swaying in the morning wind.
"Close your eyes, think, Reader will hear you." The voice instructed him. That voice... You were the one who showed me the seed! Please, are you still there?
"Reader is listening, close your eyes."
He was conflicted enough, so he followed, closing his eyes, he began composing a message in his mind.
Reader? Are you there? If you can hear me... Please, help me.
I don't know what to do, I wanna help Mira but... I wanna go home too.
Because mama... Mama has lung cancer...
I heard her doctor say that and I still don't know what that is, but I want to be there for mama until she's better again.
I want Mira and her brother to be safe too, and everyone at her village to be cured, also I don't want Author to have control over nature but... If I don't allow him, the world will be destroyed because of the decay.
I remember you were the one who read that paper back at the room, I remember your voice so if you say something, I would know it's you.
But... maybe you're not real. And I'm just talking to myself right now.
But...
...if you're really there, then, please...
And then, Reader said...
