I quickly nodded my head. "Yeah. Yeah. I'm perfectly fine."
Silver looked at me suspiciously for a moment before grabbing a box of matches and lighting the 20-40 candles. Why so many?
Once Silver was done with the candles; lighting, placing, and making sure they light up a good amount of space; he sat next to me on the couch. It was silent between us but I could tell Silver had questions. He gets antsy and twiddles his fingers while blinking rapidly when he is trying to keep his mouth shut or feels like he's in an awkward position.
"If you have a question you can ask," I said, catching his attention.
He glanced at me before staring at the candles on the coffee table.
"Well..." he began, "I've just...been wondering... how you've been...and...stuff like that... I mean, its been nearly two and a half years or so since we last spoke or seen each other and you had gotten a boyfriend, from what I've heard. I thought that maybe you were living a dream, but then I found you in the alley crying so..."
"I get it. You're curious on what I've been up to and worried for what happened today."
"Uh...y-yeah...pretty much..."
I sighed, thinking about all the events that have happened today. I reached in my pocket and pulled out the small black box that held the ring I was going to use to propose to Shadow. I know Silver noticed cause I heard him let out a small gasp.
"The boyfriend I you beard about. His name was Shadow. I had met him at the park and asked for his number. We soon started dating nearly a month after that. Today is our two-year anniversary. I was madly in love with him. I was going to propose to him during dinner. I had it all planned out. I was going to surprise him when he got home. But when I walked into the house, the first thing I noticed was that the door was unlocked. Shadow never left the door unlocked when he leaves for work. Then I heard noises coming from upstairs. I went to see what it was and saw Shadow...having sex with someone else. A friend of ours even " I paused remembering the image of walking in on and Shadows scared shocked face. I nearly slammed the ring box on the coffee table before returning my hands to my lap which I hunched over and continued my story. "I left the house crying. I didn't want to go to any of my other friends houses because they'd either ask questions or criticize me. So I went into that alley and then you found me."
Silver was silent. Either that or my hearing stopped working. Tears slowly went down my muzzle and I sniffles. Before I blinked and wiped them away, trying to calm down in the process. Then arms wrapped around my shoulders. I looked over and met Silvers soft sorrowful eyes. But that's all I could do at this moment. Stare. At those somehow capturing golden eyes that now look even better than before with the candlelight and soothing flower smells. How could I give just forgotten about him?
"I know how you feel," Silver said softly. "After highschool, I met someone in college. His name was Scourge. I had caught him someone else though. I was tempted to drop out of college because of it."
Silence fell upon us again. The two of us stared at each other. Then I, shyly and hesitantly, leaned forward. Not stopping even after our lips met.
I moved my lips in sync with Silvers. His lips were soft and his kiss held such passion. Shadows were quick and just a simple 'I love you' kiss. Nothing like this.
My hand moved up and slowly wrapped around Silver’s neck. I licked his bottom lip for entry and he obliged. My tongue explored every inch of his saliva coated cavern. Silver moaned onto the kiss and I felt him relax to a feeling of weakening. I rubbed my hand on his sides and felt him wrap his hands around my neck, pulling my closer and deepening the kiss.
I moved one hand to Silvers hip while the other moved to his back. I picked him up and laid him back down on his back, me hovering above him. I pulled his shirt up and over his head, found the same after and went back for Silver’s neck, leaving love bites and hickeys.
Then there was a knock on the door. We both tensed and listened to the muffled voice from the opposite side.
"Hey Silver? It's Chloe. Do you have a flashlight I could borrow? Until we get the power back?"
We were both silent. Seriously? Such a perfect moment ruined... But ah well. I smiled and laughed, Silver joining shortly after.
