Sonic's POV
I was packing some clothes so I could spend the week at Shadow’s house. He said that I could stay with him since Tails was visiting his parents in England. I zipped up my suitcase and picked it up from the bed as I made my way down the stairs to leave. I opened the front door and jumped from surprise as Mephiles stood there. I put a hand to my chest to help me get my breathing to go back to normal.
"Hey Meph. Next time, warn me when you’re coming over please," I said after I caught my breath.
Mephiles didn't reply and I glanced up to see that he was frantic and looking behind me like he was looking for something.
"Is Silver here?" he asked finally looking at me.
"No... Why?" I replied confused.
"Well... Me and Blaze got in a fight over him yesterday and he got all mad about it and I tried to talk to him this morning but he never answered his phone."
"Why don't you go to his house?"
"I did that and he still didn't answer. I went in through the back door and everything was still in the same place but Silver was no where to found. Then I came to you in case he was here or if you knew of his where about."
"Sorry. Haven't heard from him since Rouges."
Mephiles groaned and looked to the side with a thinking look. My mind processed more of what he said and I got confused.
"Did you say that you got in a fight with Blaze over Silver?" I asked.
"Mhm," was his answer. I smirked.
"What were you two fighting over him for?"
He sent a glare my way and I heard a small growl. My smirk only grew from his actions as I figured out why they were fighting. But I decided to keep pushing his buttons.
"I didn't know you even swung that way Meph. Why show it now?"
"Not you or anyone else knew of the kind of people I had interest in so don't push your luck. Besides, nobody knew you were gay until you kissed Shadow," he replied, crossing his arms.
I blushed but didn't retaliate. He was right. No one thought I was gay until I kissed Shadow. Not even Tails.
"That's what I thought," Mephiles then said as he turned on his heels and walked away from my house.
I watched him disappear around the corner and snapped out my trance. I still need to get to Shadows before he starts to worry...
I hope Mephiles will be alright. I hope Silver is somewhere safe....
Narrators POV
Mephiles turned the corner and continued to walk. There were a few more people he wanted to check in with before he retired for the day. After a few minutes of walking he found the next person on his list. He walked up to the pink and red porch and knocked on the hot pink door. A moment later, the door swung open to reveal a golden glowing hedgehog that wore baggy jeans but no shirt. .
"Hey Meph! Come in!" Fleetway yelled cheerfully.
The yellow 'hog walked back into the house and Mephiles confusedly followed. The ebony hedgie walked into the kitchen to see Amy closing the oven with her foot as her hands held a tray of freshly baked cookies. Scourge sat at the island looking as if he'd fall asleep at any moment. Fleetway walked behind the green hedgehog and hugged him from the waist as his head rested on top of the others.
"Hi?" Mephiles said with complete confusion in his tone.
Amy looked up and saw Mephiles. She smiled warmly and said, "Hi Meph!" before setting the tray in front of Scourge who waved his hand and rubbed his face.
"What's with you greenie?" Mephiles asked.
"Oh nothing. Just the fact that I have a extremely horny boyfriend, my ass hurts like hell, and I only got two hours of sleep," was his reply.
Snake-like eyes averted to the glowing form to see a smirk plastered on his muzzle. 'Boyfriend? When did they start dating? You know what, I'm not even going to bother..." Mephiles thought.
"Do any of you know where Silver is?" the dark hedgehog then asked getting the others attention.
"His house?" Fleetway said.
"Checked," Mephiles replied.
"Sonic's?" Amy suggested.
"Checked," Mephiles said again.
"Park?" Scourge said groggily.
Mephiles thought for a second. Silver had a certain spot in the park that he'd go to if ever stressed out or needed some alone time. "Haven't checked."
Scourge huffed. "Then you gonna go check?" he asked kinda rudely.
"Yep," was his reply. Mephiles turned and began to leave when he was called by Amy.
"Hey Mephiles!" she yelled from the kitchen. Mephiles stopped and turned to see her standing in the doorway looking at him. "What'd you do to make him disappear?"
"What do mean?"
"I mean, something must've happened between you two if you're so worried and he went off without telling. So what happened?"
Mephiles sighed. "Me and Blaze got in a fight over him. That's all I wish to say about it."
With that, the ebony hedgehog left the house and headed for the park. After a minute or two, Mephiles was at the park. Now where was Silvers spot again? He looked around to see if he could remember where the albinos hide away was. Mephiles began to walk around the border of the field and the forest as he thought. He looked to the ground and continued his thinking as his feet took him to where ever.
The thinking 'hog didn't notice as his own legs took him into the forest and to a river where he walked along the bank up to a small clearing. Mephiles then gave an aggravated sigh and looked up to see where he was. It was a big open clearing with a lake and willow tree on one side as a small cliff of rocks was on the other. After taking in the scenery, the ebony hedgehog realized he was in Silvers get away spot.
"I guess I don't have to wander," he said to himself. "But it doesn't look like he's here... I should at least look for clues then."
Mephiles began to walk around the lake. First he went over to the rocks and climbed on top. Nothing was there but a good view on the blue lake. So he hoped down and went cover to the willow tree. There he saw a piece of paper stuck to the tree. Mephiles walked over and took it down.
Mephiles' POV
Dear Mephiles,
I know you would have come here to look for me. I'd suggest you stop from here. I've gone somewhere to far for you to reach. Why I left? Because I'm mad. Mad at you for fighting with Blaze. A good person would talk things through and not encourage a fight. I did love you when we first kissed but now... I don't think I can live with knowing I have a challenging boyfriend. I hate you now and it's your fault. Don't come looking for me to say sorry because I won't accept it. Stay away from me and I'll stay away from you. This is our goodbye Mephiles.
-Silver T. Hedgehog
I looked up after reading the note. He hates me now? And it's my fault? I didn't mean to hurt him that much... I just wanted to prove to Blaze that not everyone gets what they want... Now I guess it fired back on me. Neither of us has Silver now. No body does...
I felt something wet go down the side of my muzzle and I wiped it away to see that it was a water substance. I'm crying. Who wouldn't after practically being dumped by letter after you tried to prove yourself to them?
I gave into the sadness and started to ball me eyes out. Tears streamed down my face as I sobbed. My anger began to boil as the thought that all this was my fault continued to run through my head. I crumpled the paper up and threw it at the tree. I then noticed something on the ground.
My sobs instantly eased over some as curiosity came to thought. I reached forward and picked it up. It was a flip phone. Confused, I flipped it opened to see a smiling picture of Silver as the background. It broke my heart even more to see that smiling face...
A little envelope looking picture came onto the screen signaling that there was mail. I checked the mail box and opened the new mail.
This phone can contact me at any point in time. But it can call every 30 days and send 21 messages a week. This will be the only way you can contact me.
-Silver T. Hedgehog
Silver gave me this? Is this some kind of joke? First he says that he hates me and that he won't accept a sorry from me and now he gives me a phone to keep in touch?! What the hell is wrong with him?! Doesn't he know how heart broken I am already?! This is just....
"Argh!" I yell as I throw the phone to the ground.
I growl in anger and frustration at Silvers actions. Not a minute later, the sound of a 'bing' comes from the phone. It got a text message. I crawled over and picked it up once more. I open it and read the name of who sent the text. Silver.
Something is better than nothing Meph. Whether you're proud of it or not. I'd rather still keep in touch than disappear without a trace.
After reading the text, I debated on whether texting back or not. I decided not to reply and put the phone in my pocket. I got up and began to walk back to the park to go home, taking the note with me as well.
