Mephiles’ POV
“Mephiles… Please don’t cry… I hate it when you cry…”
I stilled. My tears and sobs stopped as I stared at the ground.
“What do you think about kids?”
Echoes of voices rang through my ears. Images appeared before my eyes.
“Can I trust you with protecting him? You understand how dear he is and what will happen if something happens to him?” the demoness scolded harshly.
I shook my head. What was all this? I know nothing of what any of this means or where it came from…
“You and all the rest of them are nothing more than pathetic creatures,” King Darkness hissed.
Darkness? He looks… like that other guy… the one who looks like Silver… the one Silver’s fighting right now… Have I… met him? Do I know him?
“I’ve always loved coming out to the gardens. I got lost in its beauty every time,” Silver purred as he picked a rose and brought it to his nose.
Silver… Why does this seem… familiar?
“You wanna know something? I love you,” Silver said with a cute face he leaned his chin on my chest to look up to me from our hug.
Love… me? Silver… loves… me?
“We have to get him out of here. Or else Darkness will come and kill him,” Midnight said urgently.
“No. I’m not leaving. He wants a fight with me and he’ll get a fight. That bastard doesn’t know what he’s up against. He doesn’t know the things I am capable of,” I argued back.
Silver grabbed my arm so I’d look at his pleasing sun-kissed eyes. “Please. You know you won’t be able to beat him. You need to go to safety.”
“No! I’m. Not. Leaving!” I repeated angrily.
“Mephiles please!” Silver shouted with tears. “I don’t want to lose you like I lost Adrian…” he whined.
I stared at my love and mate intently. I then pulled him into a passionate, thorough kiss. We both pulled away as slowly as we could from our final kiss. I turned to Midnight and nodded.
“I’ll go.”
Midnight nodded back and walked over to me. I looked Silver in the eye one last time before letting him go. The demoness stopped in front of me and looked me dead in the eye. I could see the sorrow and pain she felt. Slowly, she reached her hands up to my temples and whispered the words of demon magic. I felt all my memories fade away and everything went black.
Narrator’s POV
Silver clashed his sword against his father’s. The wicked man cackled every time he pushed his sons buttons further. The elder male caught the albino off guard and slashed him, throwing his child across their battle field. The dark one gracefully landed on the ruined ground and his wings brushed along the ground as they folded behind him.
“You did better than I thought you would’ve,” Darkness mocked as he strode to Silver. “Didn’t think you’d be able to put up as much of a fight. But… it doesn’t matter. You still have the same fate as you did when you were born.”
Darkness took his long blade and held it high above Silver, ready to plunge it and end him. With all the demon lord's strength, he brought the weapon down and into a sheet of thick ice. Confusion took over the male’s features as he stared at the crystal-looking frozen water. The males face contorted to confusion. Triangular ears flicked back when hearing the sound of feets. He turned his head and gazed back at the ebony and grey streaked hedgehog walking towards him, a blank glint in his pale green eyes.
“Mephiles,” Darkness said as he turned around to face his new foe.
“Darkness,” Mephiles said back nonchalantly.
The duet stopped and faced each other, staring at one another. Stern pale green into mischief dark gold. The two foes circled each other, their gazes never faltering. Darkness was the first to attack, shooting at immense speeds with his sword at the ready. Mephiles brought up a crystal hand, a matching spike coming up from the ground and hitting his foe. Massive dark wings beat into the air and burning orbs glared down at their pray. The crystal being came up and stood up to his level. They began to clash at one another once more. They ran into buildings and dug into the ground. The area around them was demolished by their ferocious battle.
Silver had fluttered open his eyes and gazed around where he was. He didn’t know how he had gotten there. He couldn’t remember. The albino sat up slowly, painfully. He held his bleeding side with a bruised hand. His ears began to ring while his head throbbed. The male bared his teeth as he clenched his jaw. Sun-kissed orbs blurred from the amount of pain and barely flinched when the ground shook. He looked up to the source and made out to dark figures. His senses told him that one was his love while the other was his father.
‘They’re fighting… Mephiles and fighting Darkness… he can’t… he’ll… h-he’ll lose…’ Silver thought. With that, he groaned and stood to his feet.
Mephiles growled lowly in Darkness’ face as crystal and iron swords were held in their clash. Both gold and green eyes were accompanied with slitted pupils to show their anger. Darkness pushed off and launched them both to the sides. Mephiles had lost his footing and the demon lord took his chance. Black wings beat on the air and the being swung his sword. The hedgehog stared up and every memory flashed before him. A flash of white crossed his vision.
