"Done!"
"Wow! It looks so cool! Will it fit me?"
"One way to find out, c'mere."
"Bleh! You better catch me first!"
"Oh? Was that a challenge? In that case, you're on!"
The crickets serenading the night with their orchestra covered the loud noises coming from a normal household.
The blur of laughter and glee filled its walls. Spinning and hiding from his pursuer, the boy hid in his closet.
"Gotcha!"
Being pulled and carried to his bed, the woman tickled his tummy and pinched his cheeks while merrily laughing with him.
"Perfect fit."
Wearing a yellow pajama patterned with sunflowers.
"It's kind of girly though, does it make me girly?"
The woman chuckled, "It makes you look cute."
"But you said it'll make me look like a knight..."
"It does make you look like a knight, my own personal knight, and shinning armor."
The boy smiled, suddenly hugging the woman tightly.
"...Now come on, off to bed."
He huddled himself under his blanket.
"What story are you gonna read me tonight?"
The woman smiled while giving a tiresome sigh.
"I'm sorry, bud, but mama's a bit tired today, work was really really hard and I had lots and lots of work and..."
"It's okay... What did the doctor say today?"
She did not respond for a moment.
"Oh... Well, she said that... I'm gonna be okay. And that you don't have to worry about anything..."
"Really?"
She moved closer.
"Hey... Don't worry about it okay? I'm going to be fine, but if you're still worried, tell you what, you can come with me tomorrow after I have my very important meeting with the doctor."
"You're going to fight that monster again right?"
"Right, and I need you to be there to back me up when it gets tough."
"...C-can I really help, mama?"
She smiled, giving him a kiss on the forehead.
"Yeah... You can help me by not messing up this pajama. Coz' it's really hard to make a new one."
"I'm... I'm sorry."
Caressing the boy firmly.
"I should be the one saying sorry because I'm too tired to tell you a story, but tell ya what... When mommy's done with everything with the doctor, mama's gonna tell you a very important story."
"Really?"
"If you promise me not to mess this one up okay? And if you do mess it up, just don't throw it away okay? Give it to me if it's torn or it has a very bad stain that doesn't go away."
"Why don't you throw them away mama?"
"Because they're yours, and I want to cherish them."
"Like uhh... Like a... H-hoarder?"
"What? No! Where'd you learn that word? No silly, it's like collecting memories. I want to put them in a collection someday so we'll have something to look back at."
"Oohh... Like a photo album!"
"That's right."
"Okay! I'll do my best not to get a stain on it!"
She chuckled. "No, I want you to stain... Nevermind, okay, okay, time for bed."
She kissed him once more on the forehead.
"Promise and good luck cheek kiss?"
The boy offered and kissed her on the cheek.
"Alrighty then."
Standing, straightening her clothes. She covered her mouth, coughing gently and quietly.
She turned off the lights and held the doorknob.
"Mama?"
"Hm?"
"You're going to fight back right? You're not gonna lose to that monster right?"
She paused, opening the door once more as she glanced at the boy, giving him a warm and gentle smile.
