At the other side of the block, at the alley where the thieves were running, Abel and Dee were trying to catch up to the thieves. Sadly, because of the thieves' head start, the two found it difficult to close the gap.
Frustrated, Abel started shouting colorful curse words towards the thieves.
"I don't think that would stop them". Dee said from behind.
"Dee, do your thing! That might stop them". said Abel screaming.
"No! ...huff… We're running! ...huff… hard… huff… to concentrate!" said Dee in between her breaths.
"Come on Dee!!" shouted Abel.
"Fine! …huff… get ready to make a mad dash."
As soon as she said that Dee's eyes turn black, only for a second.
Kah…kah…kah…
A terrible screech filled the alleyway. One of the thieves stopped from his tracks. He turned his head towards the sound; it was a shadow of a figure, slowly walking towards them. The thief backed away, feeling something was wrong. His eyes followed the shadow to see who it belongs to and then he saw it. A monster, a black oozing thing with hair sticking out of its head. It was looking at them. Its mouth opened, revealing those disgusting, uneven and rotten teeth. It was going to eat them.
One of the thieves who stopped his tracks started shouting. He fell on the ground looking at nothing with a horrified look. He backed off as if something was going to eat him.
"Monster!" he shouted.
It was the thief that was pretending to be a clerk.
"What are you doing Eddie? We need to get going!" in the other thief with a mask.
"There's a monster Chief! Can't you see it?" The scared one named Eddie squealed.
He grabs his partner's arm, begging and scared.
"There's no monster." said the other, who apparently, based on his actions, was the boss and mastermind of the operation.
The Chief tried to convince his partner Eddie that the monster does not exist.
As the thieves struggled, Abel and Dee finally caught up with them. Abel gave the masked one, the Chief, a heavy punch knocking him out.
"That's for hitting me." said Abel smug.
Fixated on the bag with the wine on it, Dee tried to grab the in on the ground. To her shock, Eddie, who was under her illusion, grabbed her arm and threw her.
"Stay away from me you fucking monster!" shouted the scared thief.
Dee, petite in size was flung in the air. Abel saw this and runs after her, catching her before she hit the ground.
As soon as the thief Eddie has thrown Dee, the oozing monster turn to glass, cracked and finally shattered into pieces disappearing.
"What the hell! An illusion?!" Eddie cried.
Eddie then had an epiphany; his eyes widened and screamed.
In her confusion, when she was thrown, Dee lost control over her illusion releasing Eddie in her spell.
"You're one of them! a One Percenter!" he exclaimed while pointing at Dee.
After he helped Dee up. He runs towards the thief, punching him hard.
"Not just her, man!" said Abel. With Abel's incredible strength, he got thrown 20 meters away with just that punch.
Abel, with his abilities, usually practice control, in hopes of avoiding accidentally hurting anyone but this time Abel thought the one who is going to receive his punch deserves it. So without holding back Abel hit the thief hard.
He was expecting the thief to fall unconscious but that was when he realized something was wrong.
"Super strength huh." said Eddie, standing up.
The thief does not look like he was affected with Abel's punch at all.
Instead, it looked like he was even happy with what happened. He cracked some of his bones on his body and smiled at Abel.
"Guess what, so am I." he then returned the punch.
Abel, who was stunned by the experience because he rarely met anybody who can take him on, received the punch. Then it became clear why the thief did not choke when he was wrestling with him earlier.
Abel shook his head, he readied himself for the fight now more determined than ever. He will not underestimate his opponent time with a heavy right he returned the favor.
As Abel and Eddie-the-thief exchanged punches, Dee, now back on her feet, tried to grab the bag again. But the one who was called Chief saw this and shot a bullet at her location.
Dee immediately ran away and looked for a place to take cover.
It then dawned on her, she has nowhere to hide. She was in the middle of an empty alley.
Dread filled her when she heard a familiar rickety sound of a van getting near them.
Richie finally arrived with the van.
