Traveling faster than a bullet shouldn't be a problem for using them... all guns do is accelerate a bullet to some speed that's about 17,000 mph relative to the speed of the gun. So if you fire a bullet forward out of a vehicle moving 20,000 mph, the bullet will be moving 37,000 mph.
Although I supposed it'd be a bit awkward if they fired a bullet behind them, because (while the bullet *would* be traveling away from them by about 17,000 mph), it would also still be moving in the same direction as them relative to an observer standing on the rail. So they'd only be able to hit enemies that were in front of them, or moving within 17,000 mph of their speed.
The Chrysalis Star is sci-fi adventure series about twelve characters on a space-freighter. Their mission? Transport a mysterious cargo to the last known planet. When they aren't fighting hijackers and bureaucracy, they tackle the biggest challenge of all: living with each other.
