There are hecklers in the house
As their dog chases a mouse
A woman upstairs
Can run off if she dares
A man saw her from the ground
Wishing freedom, heartbound
The hecklers saw no man, just dirt
Black white dreads, light brown skin, none saw worth
Malnourished, caged
Man felt enraged
No love but worry
Woman would die from light flurry
Man got her attention, thought discreet
Woman woke up, climbed out of her sheets
The man hid and waited for her sad frown
And suddenly dashing out comes the hound
The hound leaped onto the stranger with a bite to the neck
The woman comes out, scarred by what she had checked
His arm, his stomach and finally his eye
The high prisoner could hardly muster a "why"
There are hecklers in the house
