Chris’s P.O.V.
Everyone freshened up before dinner. I took a look around the house after I showered. We lived in a very simple house. As soon as you walk in through the front door, you can basically see every room. There was the front porch, then the living room. After a couple more steps, you would be in in the dining room and then the kitchen. The bathroom was on the left, and the bedrooms were on the right. Very simple.
I sat across from Caleb at the table. He kept looking at his plate full of dinner, but never picked up the spoon to eat it. I sighed in my head. My head turned to Dad, but he didn’t say anything.
“Caleb got some ST3LLAR tickets for Wednesday night. I don’t think we’re going to come back until Thursday morning.” Caleb’s face brightened up at the mention of his favorite band. Mom made a sound in the back of her throat.
“Why?” Her voice hinted she was a little annoyed, and I could tell why. Caleb was obsessed over ST3LLAR, but not in a good way. He would give up on food and exercise just to listen to their new song over and over again, until he memorized it word by word. Mom hated Alex for what he turned her son into, but there was no going back. ST3LLAR was his life. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like if there band had disbanded or something.
“Alex got us some backstage tickets. I was going to rent a room in a hotel, so Caleb could get some action time with ST3LLAR.” Caleb's face turned red and he practically jumped over the table to hug me. Dad smiled at me, but Mom kept her head down.
“I love you so much!” He cheered.
“I love you, too.” Caleb pulled back, but he didn’t pick up the spoon. He was too busy trying to conceal the smile he had stamped on his face.
“Chris, I need you to be here Thursday. Your father and I were going to invite the family over for Thanksgiving. It wouldn't be a family without you guys.”
“I promise I'll be back Thursday morning.” Mom rolled her eyes and let the subject go. We ate the rest of dinner in silence. Dad and I stuffed our mouths with cornbread while Caleb and Mom picked at their food. I’m glad today was Monday.
