As you all walked through the gates in order to get to class, the girls were worse than usual. This damned event... You hadn't minded it last year, as it basically didn't bother you in the slightest. You had simply ignored it completely and then stayed in your room at the actual day. This time around though, it was different. As part of the night class it was pretty much impossible not to get bothered by the event, since it riled the fangirls up so much.
You sighed in relief as you finally reached the school building. Never in your life before have you been this happy to enter that building, mostly because majority of the classes had always felt unnecessary to you. "It's awfully noisy today" Ruka pointed out as you all walked down the halls. "Well, you know, the ball is coming up soon..." Akatsuki pointed out, only to then get ignored completely by Ruka. 'Poor guy...' you thought to yourself as you looked at the two of them.
"I myself can not wait for the ball" Takuma then stated, making you snap your head back forward. "Sounds exhausting" Senri complained, and you could only agree with him. "It's not mandatory, right? Think I'll just skip it this year as well..." you said, not exactly trying to hide your disinterest. "Whaat? Why not, (f/n)?" Takuma then burst out, trying to act somewhat hurt at your comment. "Well, several reasons. First off, I'm not to fond of social events. Second, I don't have anything to wear to that kind of a place and I don't even know how to dance. In other words, if I went I'd just be standing antisocially in a corner somewhere. Besides, I can't really say I'm keen on seeing any of my so called friends from the day class. All in all, I don't really see any point in going" you explained calmly. It's not like you were sad about not going, you had better things to do with your time anyway, like reading.
After you had finished speaking, Takuma seemed to go into deep thought, as if considering everything you had just said. "Let's see, a dress shouldn't be too hard to get, there is still some time left, and I don't mind showing you the ropes when it comes to dancing..." he then said thoughtfully, one hand covering his mouth slightly, and the words he was saying somehow got to you and you started blushing. "I can't really do much to change your opinion when it comes to social events, but if you'll let me I could probably help you get out of any awkward situations with the day class girls" he said, before smiling yet again and your blush only increased.
"Why would you go through all that trouble, it's no big deal" you said, looking down at the ground in slight embarrassment. "That's simple; I want you to come to the ball" he said, sending you another one of those charming, irresistible smiles. Did he even know how hard it was to say no when he gave that smile?!? "I'll think about it... But, I'm getting the dress myself" you said with a bit more confidence, knowing that he would probably fix that for you too if you didn't say anything. "You don't have to, it's really no trouble..." he tried, as expected. "Nope, I'll get it. I'm not backing down on that one" you say with a wide grin as you turned toward him. "If you're sure..." he said, the tiniest blush dusting his cheeks. "Mind if I tag along?" you heard Rima asking next to you with a slight smirk. Not really having any reason to object you give her a sigh before accepting her offer.
Reaching the classroom you sat down at your usual spot and leaned back, stretching your arms from fatigue. "Hey, (f/n). Want some?" Shiki then asked from a couple of seats away, holding out a box of pocky toward your direction. "Yes please!" you exclaimed, once again jumping out of your seat. You quickly made your way over to Shiki, before snatching one out of the box and sitting down at his table. This action earned you a slight snicker from each of your three friends, not that you cared all too much about that. You were quite content simply sharing the pocky with Shiki and Rima, not really many cares shown at all.
"A late arrival..." Takuma's voice could then be heard throughout the classroom. Looking over to the green eyed vampire, you could see him look out the window, that standard smile of his nowhere to be seen, as he continued talking. "A transfer student. It's quite mysterious. Something's definitely wrong here" he finished, confusing you slightly. "Is this about that book you were reading yesterday?" Shiki then asked, before grabbing some more pocky from the box. "Which one?" you say with a slight grin, before leaping off Shiki's desk, grabbing a couple of pockys and walking back to take your seat next to the somewhat concerned male.
"What he's saying is true, we've got a new student" Rima then said, getting back to the actual topic at hand. You had not been informed of this new student, but seeing as Shiki apparently didn't either, it was most likely simply a case of short notice. "And what exactly were you trying to imply, if I may ask?" Takuma asked, as soon as you had sat in your usual seat, playing somewhat hurt by your comment. "Hm, let me see. Maybe that you read a lot? Never said it was meant as an insult" you say, still smirking as you leaned relatively close to him. It took all you had to prevent a blush from appearing on your cheeks, but seeing the male become flustered from the close proximity was totally worth it.
"Hey! That's my pocky! I was going to share them with Lord Kaname!" Hanabusa's loud voice cut through the relative silence of the classroom. You backed away from the male next to you, to be able to watch the scene unfold, hoping for something at least somewhat entertaining to happen. "Geez, today really isn't going well at all" was all that he then followed up with, disappointing you slightly. That was, until you heard an unfamiliar snickering coming from the front of the class.
There, on the teacher's podium, sat a girl you'd never seen before wearing a night class uniform. She had medium length silver hair, and from what you could tell, she was rather small with a frail body type. "This class looks like fun~ Say, shouldn't this class have started already?" she said in a voice that was somehow both pleasant and creepy at the same time. But, then again, the fact that it sounded so soothing only made it creepier. "Who the hell are you?" Hanabusa then asked confusedly earning him a glare from the girl at the front of the room. "The hell?" she then said, getting up from her seated position as she graciously started jumping on top of the desks over to him.
As she did, you got a clearer view of her cold gray eyes. And for some reason, those creepily cold eyes seemed fixed on you. Even though her attention was directed at someone else completely, that look was almost like a glare. "Excuse me boy. You think you can talk that way to me?" she said, her gaze finally leaving you, if only for a couple of seconds, to glare straight into Hanabusa's eyes. Hanabusa in turn seemed completely terrified by this girl's glare. Sure, it wasn't a peasant look, but seeing him that scared threw you off a little. He didn't really seem like the type of person to get scared by such empty threats, and you hadn't been to affected by her gaze. Although it was uncomfortable having someone stare at you, it wasn't as if her gaze scared you, or anything like that.
"I believe it's the new student's duty to introduce oneself to the class. Right, Maria Kurenai?" Kaname then said, slight anger actually emitting from his voice. Catching one last glance at you, she then instead turned her attention to the male who had spoken, before graciously jumping over to the desk in front of him and kneeling on top of it, grabbing one of his hands. "If I've upset you, please forgive me. I'm sorry, Lord Kaname" she said calmly, before something in her attitude seemed to change. "Ah! I can't believe I finally get to meet a pureblood! This makes me so happy!" she exclaimed as she rubbed her face against his hand. Despite this, her gaze had once again landed on you, and a slight smirk had become visible on her lips.
"A pleasure to meet you" Kaname then answered after a long silence, with anger dripping from his every word. Not that he seemed too happy normally, but this was much, even for him. "I'm sorry. I think I've made everyone a little uncomfortable. Perhaps it's best if I come back another time" she said with a giggle as she left the room. Everyone seemed rather shaken by her short presence there, but what confused you most was that look. Her eyes did not leave you until she had closed the door behind her, and you had to admit it sent chills up your spine.
You looked over to the male next to you, only to find he was giving you a confused look, indicating that he too had noticed the look she gave you. In response you couldn't do much more than shrug your shoulders, seeing as you had no valid explanation as to why she had been looking at you like that.
You only got to know you were a vampire a short while ago, what in the world was going on now?
Author's note! Another update finished, yay! To tell you the truth, I've been writing these chapters a bit last minute recently. The reason behind this is because I'm a little burnt out because of school, and preassure for better grades. I've tried not to let it affect this particular story, but if you've been following my other ones you've probably noticed the lack of updates. There is a slight possibilty it might affect this one in the future, and if it does I appologize in advance. But, summer vacation is getting close, and I'll make sure to get a lot more writing done then! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and that you're looking forward to the next one! //Yours truly, Handsomesquid :3
