I turned around to find Jedidiah, and the rest of my brothers in dining hall. How long were they waiting? I'm guessing that Caius, Dominic, and Lucius hasn't made the announcement. The thought about becoming Alpha one day brought butterflies in my stomach. I never pictured myself as an Alpha. I assumed when the time came Caius, Lucius, and Dominic will probably be traditional and pick their oldest or most powerful son.

That would put Ryland, Archangel, and my half brother from Lucius, Zephyr, options. Ryland was a very powerful titan with a pure aura, he could rule with great kindness. Archangel was reserved but his dark powers could frighten off enemies, and he has the most military experience. He was also wise and knowledgeable. Zephyr was a ladies male. He flirted quite well and efficiently. He is very likely to find his mate fast and create children. This made me think, why me? Why did they want to break tradition and make me the Dauphin. I was nothing special.

"Have you heard, sister dear? Our fathers are going to pick a Dauphin. I pray it's me." Caim, Zephyr's brother, spoke. Caim Lux-Tenebris was an aether. Aethers, Eris, and Titans were the most powerful immortals. Aethers being the strongest. Aethers are a hybrid mix of dark species and light species. He was a angel mage. However he was not as powerful as Lucius and Zephyr.

"It's probably me, brother. I'm faster and stronger than you." Orias, my other Lux-Tenebris brother spoke. He was the youngest and closest to my age at sixty five. Although he is a warlock Scylla, his inexperience and lack of military experience will hold him back.

Lucius raised his hand to the warriors near us. "Thetas, you are excused." The Thetas were our warriors. Our military. There were always at least a couple of Thetas guarding the royal family. The Thetas bowed before saying

"Yes Alpha Lucius."

I took a deep breath. Now they will know.

"Children, as you already have heard, Dominic, Caius, and I have decided to crown a Dauphin." There were murmurs around us. A few 'that title is mine' and 'I want it'.

Dominic clapped his hands together and stated aloud "We are aware of the fact that some of you want that title for thyself." It was as if Dominic was staring right at Draven.

Caius finished for him "So you children will support whoever it is we choose."

My brothers and I bow our heads in respect "Yes, Sir."

"This may come to a surprise to all, but Caius, Lucius, and I believe that this young one will become the Scarlet Empire's greatest Alpha. She will become the new Dauphin." Lucius put great emphasis on the she. I was the only she.

There was a murmur among our family. Waves of confusion and distress spread among us like a plague. From the corner of my eye I saw Ryland smiling, giving a mere wink. I giggled. The confusion was soon replaced with a mix of anger and happiness.

"Sister..." I turned around to see Nicolo place a warm hand on my shoulders. Are you...

"Yes." I simply answered.

Claps and cheers were heard in the room. My brothers were bombarding me with hugs and words of support and joy.

"Mother would be proud." Steele told me.

I smiled sadly at the mention of mother. I haven't seen her since I was five human years. Ryland told me she was the most beautiful female ever seen with a kind heart. He told me of the wonderful things she did for everyone. I miss her. I have only few memories of her. Like the time when we played hide and seek in the forest on a camping trip. I was only fifteen, which were three human years. Or the time there was thunderstorm outside. She helped me be brave.

"This isn't right! I'm the rightful heir!" A shout was heard across the room.
