As a science student, I find the fidget spinners pretty interesting, for two reasons:
1) They have very little friction in them due to the use of steel ball bearings, which allows them to spin for minutes upon minutes on end, and
2) They are masses spinning around an axis, which is ... a GYROSCOPE! They exhibit all the properties of gyroscopes: their inherent stability, and conservation of angular momentum. For example, when you try to tilt it forward, it tends to the right, etc.
Trust me, when I first saw them, I thought it was just another fad, but when I tried them for myself, I was fascinated. Those of you who say you hate fidget spinners, are just jealous! ... (either that, or not scientifically inclined.)
