Flynn here! Red is going insane in Just Packing For A Month-Long Trip To Norway Land. Quick announcement, we now have a discord for people to chat and hang out all the livelong day. Everyone is really friendly -- but be warned, there are a LOT of gifs.

To those of you celebrating, Happy Fourth! Twitter’s inundated with Amurica memes, there are fireworks, and I’m stoked for freaking barbeque and a Two-Hearted or five tonight. All in all, pretty great. Also there’s an extremely fluffy cat cuddled up beside me, so that’s an extra fifteen happiness points.

Usually at this time I’m further west visiting a very loud, very opinionated, very American family. Tis the season, y’know? We all pile into our minivans or flatbeds and trundle out to my uncle’s farm. Yes, we have fourth of July on a goddamn farm with actual chickens, horses, and cows. There are kegs of something that vaguely resembles lemonade or iced tea, but is jacked with so much booze you’ll be seeing stars by 5 PM. Yes, I absolutely pilfered from these kegs at age twelve. And yes, there are drinking games, pinochle, and hay rides. Fucking. Hay. Rides.

So now that you’ve lost any respect you may have had for me (who are we kidding), let me also mention that a staggering amount of what comes out of my uncles’ mouths is why men shouldn’t be allowed to wear skirts. But there’s also ground-shaking fireworks attended by hundreds of people, where inevitably Celine Dion’s “God Bless America” blasts from the open trunk of a stranger’s car. Everyone cries without really knowing why and eats way too many red-white-and-blue popsicles. So it’s a mixed bag.

You’ve all been subject to enough ‘murica from me to recite the Pledge of Allegiance backwards. Go do whatever it is you do on the fourth of July, whether it’s barbeque, drinking yourself blind, or curling up with an extremely fluffy cat and reading comics.
