When we were a 1/4th mile away from it it looked like rocks and bricks like a castle, but since we stood outside from it, it wasn’t any bricks, it was all metal. A sight that mesmerized me. When I looked back at Terity, she looked angst and worried, I took hold of her hand to try to calm her down, which quite did. Then Odd saw me then grabbed my whole arm.
“I want to be calm too.” Odd says as I roll my eyes.
We were outside a giant door that separated us from the city and the village. When I looked back unto the village, I knew I was never going back. When these giant gears on the door spun and linked to each other, a giant kink noise was heard as light was coming from the side of the door. Its light was so bright it was like the sun itself was behind the door. The door opened slowly as its gigantic hinges slide to open it. When I head the metal noise the door hitting the wall. The brightness faded. When I opened my eyes I saw metal buildings from the ground, on the walls and a giant platform that hung in the middle of the city with pillars coming from its bottom, and stairs forming to the left and right side that leads up along the wall, after about 10 seconds of looking, the soldiers told us to move to the right stairs and head up to a large room. When we walked up I saw no one in the city, only a few people from far away but they hurried to get inside, but for what. We walked up about 100 steps and stepped into a room with a giant glass window. The room was big enough for our village, despite the fact that our village has about 200 people in it. Then another earthquake happened as we looked out the window, where the hole was that took down those houses was a rock coming out of the ground, the same rock that Odd showed me.
Shrimstone.
We overlooked our village which by this height looks beautiful; it was the place that I grew up in, the place where my father and grandma died. I remember I still have the box with my aviator goggles in it, still on a strap around my waist. When everything was calm a soldier came out and told us rules, that to not leave this room, or else we will be shot. Then he told us to hold on. Then I thought to myself, what, will another earthquake happen? While the villagers were crying or shocked by what was happening. I let go of Terity’s hand and shook Odd off my arm to look around the crowd seeing if everyone made it. When I walked around a bit, in the far corner of the room was Tayler’s dad sitting on the floor with a miscellaneous look on his face. Afraid for what might happen to his son.
I went back to my family near the window, I see my mother who looks like she hasn’t slept in days with Clira over her shoulders. She looks scared but peaceful when she sleeps, it looks like something was in her hands, when I got a better look it was a wooden figure, it appeared to be a sculpture of our father. I took it from her and stuffed it in my aviator box.
When I heard people murmuring from the window I turn around to see some airships flying close to the city. Then a rumbling noise came then some soldiers told us to step away from the window, but we did not for what we were seeing was unexpected. We saw Shrimstone rising around the island off the shore rapidly like it’s a earthworm crawling to its surface, but that didn’t catch our attention. We saw the ground of our village crumpling like dry dirt collapsing, destroying our houses, like a sinkhole under our village, caving it in. But it was an earthquake or the Shrimstone causing it. When the village was craving in large metal platforms were rising out of the ground, completely destroying the village, which was the last time we saw it ever again. Those giant platforms rose above the ground, beneath it was a giant hole where it used to be. A thought came to my head, all those tools and metal scraps bringing into the mine. I look around and find the male adult I saw the other day.
“Is this what you were building down into the mine?” I asked the man.
“Apparently so, we didn’t know what it was and we still don’t know!” says the man as he looks out the window with shock.
Then after the platform rises next to the city, it slides half way under the city making a screeching noise until it halts halfway. Then on the long recticular platform 3 holes open up on it. We stare at it with enmity cause of the destruction of our village but with shock and awe of the giant wing on the side of the propeller. Then those 3 airships circle around the city once more but this time that have what appears to be propellers beneath them. They lower down onto the platform, hovering over the holes making sure they are aligned up perfectly, then when the propellers are perfect in the hole, 5 men come out of one ship dangling on a rope. They go to each propeller to make sure its right in the hole, giving each other a thumbs up. While they were doing that I look at the edges of the window to see another platform just like this one. They must surround the city, from the look and width of each platform, I’d suspect their would be between 5-6 platforms. When the men go to check on the third propeller, a Shrimstone comes up from beneath the platform knocking the men on their feet. They then shouted as the rope pulls them back into the air ship that goes straight up in the air out of sight. Then a large thud came about with noises like wires swinging in the air, came beneath our feet. Then smoke came from the end of a pipe on the platform as the propellers began to spin very slowly, then lots of smoke came from the platform as the propellers began to spin with great speed. The Shrimstone began to emerge itself out of the land and was rising to the city. But at first I thought I was dizzy, cause I saw that the ground was getting low, but then I saw clouds near the platform so I knew I wasn’t crazy, the city was flying in the air!
