Alex and Chloe

Alex and Chloe, as characters in the comics, are named after my real-life niece and nephew and trace their origin in the sad, but spiritual summer of 2015.
My sister had a heart attack (and just like in the story arc, I showed up super-worried...at the wrong hospital!) and I had to babysit her then ten-year old son Alex.
Later that summer, I had to go back to my hometown because my mother was in the hospital and in her last months. I slept at my other sister's house and bonded with her then three-year old daughter Chloe.
...and every time I go back there, for good or bad news, I show her "Doggy-Chloe" and I come back with a new gag in my mind.
