I was a weird little kid. This was a good thing, but it didn't seem good at the time. I had "The Collected Works of Buck Rogers," which was a partially-complete hardcover volume of newspaper serials that sometimes picked up or ended in the middle of story lines. Perhaps instinctively, I did the same for this book, which I wrote and illustrated on the fly in a notebook in one sitting.
I'm pretty sure that this cover was done after-the-fact, but I don't know if I did the whole thing in my room while my mom had a party downstairs, or if the party just prompted me to come down with my comic book and show it off.
I remember one of my mom's lawyer friends acting very impressed that I had made this whole comic book, and that praise went immediately to my head and set a standard of adulation that has never been met again.
