Briar's Diary

Song One

Song One

Jul 27, 2017

“Go back little one it isn't your time to come back to me."

I vaguely hear someone say before I hear another noise. "Beep, Beep, Beep" Is all I can hear as I slowly make sense out of my surroundings. Is this what it's like to be dead? Hearing an incessant beeping noise for the rest of eternity all the while just sitting drifting within a seemingly bleary darkness? "Beep, Beep, Beep!"

Okay! That's it will somebody or something make that irritating noise cease! I merely thought those words were in my head, but boy was I wrong because the next thing I knew was I was hearing my older brother saying something to me.

“Oh thank god! Briar you’re going to be okay!"

....Now, wait a minute! I'm supposed to be dead and not hearing my older brother speak to me unless that means he's dead too. "Oh Bloody Hell. Please do not let him be dead!" were my exact thoughts as I slowly opened my eyes to not see darkness, but the glaring brightness of the lights of a hospital room. Once my eyes adjusted I also noticed a ton of machines were hooked up to my body and that I myself wasn't dead, but in a hospital bed. It looks like my attempt to end my life wasn't successful at all. This bummed me out because I was tired of my life, but it looked like I wasn't going to be allowed to rid the world of my existence yet. "Well, that sucks," I thought as I looked over at my brother for the first time since I woke up and when I did I knew that I had truly made a very big mistake.

He looked worse for wear because he had dark circles under his eyes, his clothes looked wrinkled and creased, he also didn’t smell of roses and vanilla like he usually does; he must not have been home yet, and what also hit me straight in the heart was that my little nephew Rose was lying next to me curled up in a ball with tear streaks staining his porcelain face.

"Really what was I thinking when I took those pills?"

Maybe that voice, in the beginning, was someone from heaven. You'll have to keep reading to find out.
