In the City of the Sword, Excaliburgh, mysterious monstrous creatures, known as "Game," have begun attacking.
What would be devestating, for other cities, has become the backbone of society, with slaying monsters becoming a gold rush.
These hunters have taken the title of "Enders," and have led to Exclaiburgh's flourishing economy.
A peculiar, almost furtively stoic, referring to himself only as "Max," finds himself indebted to one such Ender, upon being rescued from a rampaging Game.
She introduces herself as Serenity Marianne Wickerish, but everybody just calls her "Sally," and takes an interest in the young man.
Seeing potential in him, she takes a chance on witnessing him survive what would kill most, and offers him a proposal.
"Work for me."
