Joda Blackwell
"He was still very much insufferable, and smelled odd, in the way that teenagers tend to do, and his face was constantly covered in an unflattering mixture of sunburn and acne. So, in many senses, he was perfectly ordinary. But he was also very odd. That would come later. For now, Joda was a boy, insufferable, idealistic, and unremarkable as they come."
Sup losers, its ya boi Lofi, and I write Joda Blackwell in the story But We Fall.
Joda is my little man and wants to fix the world, bless his wee heart. He has a lot of flaws, and you're probably going to see all of them in terrible, vivid detail. But, for all of his flaws, he's got one strength, and that's discipline. If he wants something, if he wants to be good at something, he'll run himself into the ground until he gets it. Point him in a direction, and he'll follow you till the end's of the earth, and I love him for it.
I want Joda and his adventures to speak for themselves. Joda isn’t exactly a good role model, but the way his outlook will be changed (and then restored and then changed again) will definitely hold a few lessons that readers can choose to notice.
I’ve been with this project almost since the very beginning, since I flung myself (not quite screaming, but it was a near thing) at Ari at the opportunity to create a ‘mystery story’, working with five co authors. Nobody's been able to get rid of me since.
My time so far working on this project has been fantastic, the memories I’ve made and the improvements not only I’ve made, but seen fellow team mates make, has been such an incredible experience for me. I hope you guys have as much fun reading this story as I have had working on it.
The people I’m writing with are amazing writers, and I hope they go far. Maybe this challenge we are undertaking might even inspire others to attempt similar feats, and I can only hope that at least one person takes something away from this novel. That would make me happy.
Until next time, this is Lofi, reporting live. Back to you folks in the studio.
