The skies had carried a smiling warmth down to earth for yet another whole day. His body ached, but he stayed concentrated, waiting and watching out for someone he not even knew.

It came as a shock to him in many ways and he wondered if there was any higher meaning to it. Were the gods finally trying to punish him for the way he had been living?

He slowly looked down on the being that had disrupted his life, not entirely unexpected, but, after all these years surely unwanted.

Her face was almost hidden in the dark shadows of the Olive tree, here and there blinked some strands of her golden hair  in the sunshine.

He had always known that someday, he would meet his master.

This was his fate. Every demons final faith

But he hadn´t expected it to look like this. The young woman was unkempt, her hair dirty, her body so skinny, he could see her chest bones from up at the tree, piercing trough the old summer dress which was bleached from a thousand days under the sun.

Sarazeel rubbed trough his hair and blinked a few times.

Worst of all, she was part of a human sect, that called itself “the family” and had gained power in this part of the world, up to this point without his notice.

Until he had, a few weeks ago, felt her presence. He had felt anxious, gathering information about the family. After all, he had never expected his master to be only slightly younger than himself. He knew nothing about this person and If he wanted to slowly gain control, which he definitely wanted, he had to approach cautiously.

Now not bowing to her feet first felt like the biggest mistake he had ever made and it wrecked his head ever since. The family had told him they had total control over her, and that her decision, no, her order to him was to follow the families order. And their order had been, annoyingly enough, a strict ban to approach her.

He had driven himself against a wall.

If, which was very likely, given she had spent her whole life in their care they did have total control over her decisions, even locking eyes with her would cause him mad pain, and it would be for her to decide, how long he would have to endure his punishment – hell, for all he knew it could be in vain and she could be gone once he gained vision again. And pointless pain had never been his strong point, not to endure it nor inflict it. Only if it was pointless tough.

He looked down at her once more. Her physical condition was possibly the reason he had suddenly sensed her presence when he was able to ignore it for so long.

The way she looked worried him. The skinny bones, the pale face, the slow movements.

He was just being caught up in the thought if he wanted her to be smart, or very, very dumb, when the shorty suddenly started to grumble slightly, tossing and turning in the grass.

All to suddenly rip her eyes open and stare directly at him.

Shit.
