The Bells Of Death

The Bells Of Death

Aug 04, 2017

Lava pooled and burnt the earth, the cracks like scars on Terra ’s skin, cut so deep the magma bled from Geb.

The battlefield was filled with corpses of mortals, slain by the warring gods of each pantheon. God’s who had warred on for as long as generation may remember. Often, the cursed thought would wander through an archers mind, did war bear any reason? And a brute a believe that even gods had forgotten the cause of the great war. A thought that should only stay for a moment and nothing more.

However the Gods had left the Greek empire and moved to the sands of Egypt. Leaving nothing but the bodies of mortals to slowly become one with the dirt.

Upon the forgotten war ground, one archer still stood, hidden amongst his fallen allies. A brother in his arms, slain not by the glory of the gods but rather the arrow of another.

Jingle Jingle…

Soft bells could be heard, but from where? The archer sunk down, hiding from the expected danger. Though he could not care less about his survival.

Jingle Jingle…

The bells continued, followed by a slow crunching footsteps.

The archer only saw a shadow, a jittering hunched figure loomed over the bodies. He held a decorated staff, and poked the bodies with long scrawny fingers with equally long black nails. With the gentle chatter of his mask and twitching of his body he casted a spell over the brute and brought him back as his zombie minion. “Rise my minions…” He called in his raspy voice. The archer gasped, a god was still in the grounds of olympus. The god turned, hearing the archers quiet breath, he stepped forward, his skinny, yet muscular body rising slightly, red beading eyes searching for the source.

Jingle Jingle…

The god came closer, dirt and bodies squelching and crushing and his giant body stepped. The gods were much larger than the minions, more than triple their size, though, for the power they held, such a body was need. Ah Puch moved closer, listening carefully to heartbeat the archer tried to hide. very step grew faster and faster, the archer readied his boy, preparing to attack with no hope.

Jingle Jingle… Jingle Jingle…

Silence.

Not a sound to be heard. The archer lowered his bow. Had the death god left? In a flash the bodies moved, flying away with the slap of the gods hand, revealing the archer standing shocked. Ah Puch raised his staff, ready to kill the minion.

ACHOO!

The death god sneezed, the red and green tropical feathers of mask fluttering and his mask shaking.

JINGLE JINGLE JINGLE JINGLE JINGLE JINGLE !

“Pft-AHAHAHAHA!” The minion bursted into laughter. “Oh-my-titan! HAHA-THAT-was-THE-cutest-thing-I-have-EVER-heard!” The minion could not contain his laughter. Ah puch threw his staff to the ground, “SHUT UP! That was NOT cute! It was scary! Scary!” he threw a little tantrum then huddled himself into a ball on the side, rocking back and forth crying. “Sniff-it’s hay fever season… it’s not my fault I sneeze!” He whimpered. “I wanna-sniff-be scary!” he cried.

“H-hey…” The archer carefully approached. “I-uh, think you’re plenty scary!” He was nervous to speak with the god, but gave a reassuring smile. “Really?”

“Y-Yeah!” The minion gave him a gentle pat on the back. “You can be cute and scary y’know. Hel does that. and I hear she’s a favourite amongst the mortals!” That was not the reason she was a favourite amongst the mortals. “You think?” The death god turned to the little minion. “Mhm!” he nodded.

“You know… you’re a real good guy.” Ah puch smiled. “..But I’ll have to kill you anyway, you’re the enemy.”

“Wha-?!”

Btw this episode is based off of the game Smite, which has many gods from different pantheons (Zeus greek, amaterasu Japanese etc) and they're described from the game characters.
