Later that night, I met Priest Olaf at the Inn. We chatted for awhile, and he brought up the fact that he was going beyond the wall again. I asked him if I could join, and he declined.
"I wouldn't want you to get hurt Rose," he said to me, sipping his ale, "it's a dangerous mission that requires the most trained soldiers, it's not fit for a girl like you."
The next morning at dawn, I waited outside the gate that people where headed to. However, I had pruchased some armor and a helmet to disguse myself. Priest Olaf and a group of ten people made it to the gate.
"And who might you be?" Priest Olaf asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
Putting on my best male voice, I answered, "I've been assinged to gaurd you Sir."
"By /who/?" He asked, his eyes narrowed.
Thinking fast, I answered, "A couple of..friends."
He looked at me with one raised eyebrow slowly, then nodded. "Come along."
When the gates lifted, the smell of jungle hit my nose. But it wasn't any jungle, a rotten stench filled my nose, and one of the team members threw up. There was piles of broken bones everywhere, skulls of every race littered the ground. As we pressed deeper, these piles only got worse and worse.
"Ambush!" One of the party members cried, seeing the zombies slowly shuffle toward us.
We went into defensive poistion, I hacked my blade at a few neighboring zombies and killed them surprising quickly. Even Priest Olaf was doing well. Priest Olaf turned, and in that moment a zombie, hidden in the bushes, lunged out and tried to bite him. I rushed forward and stabbed the zombie in the head, killing it instantly.
Priest Olaf looked impressed, and thanked me.
We pressed on, occantionally running into another zombie group. However on one of the zombie groups, I was hurt badly trying to defend Priest Olaf. I was carried back on strecher and healed in town. I waited at the front gate from him and his returning party.
At sundown, he finally did arrive back home. But the ten members that went with him, including myself, was down to eight. One of the party members had climbed a tree, and the zombies had crawled up and ate him.
Priest Olaf was thanking all the party members and handing them gold, I stood by his side, still in my armor. When everybody had left, I turned to him.
Suddenly I was thrown flat on the ground, I recognized the smell of orc.
"My my my, assassins are getting so lazy these days.." Priest Olaf said. "You had plently opportunites to kill me, so then...hrm...well, let's find out.~"
He reached forward and yanked off my helmet, and a gasp of surprise rose from both his and the orc's lips. I looked up at Priest Olaf and winked.
"An assassin? You insult me. If I was an assassin, I'd run the other way." I chuckled.
He looked at me, sort of stunned. "Rose?!" He squeaked, utter shock on his features.
"What other brown haired, brown eyed female would risk her life just to protect you from a horde of zombies?"
He thought carefully for a moment, then looked at the orc. "Bring her to Zararock."
I was hauled up, and manhandled into Olaf's room. He lifted a carpet in the room, and opened a secret basement passage. The stairwell down was pitch black and dark, and it smelled of dog. I could hear snoozing in the other room.
We finally arrvied at a door, and Priest Olaf raised his hand. The door glowed blue, and it opened. He turned, and smiled at me.
"Welcome to Zararock, Rose."
