Chapter 16
Chapter 16
“Well, this is not everyone but it's the people who usually stay here the most. A lot of the people who live here come and go.” Obsidian said, when Zine gave him a confused look.
“All right, now that introductions are done, I will show you your room Zine.” Obsidian continued as he dragged him out of the kitchen.
“Wait! Shouldn't we talk or think things through more?!” Zine protested.
Obsidian stopped in the middle of the hallway, and turned towards him.
“You already agreed, what's there to worry about?” Obsidian said softly, tightening his grip.
OMFGERD he looked like a kicked puppy, Zine steeled his nerves.
“I understand that I agreed.” Zine started.
Although it was a decision he did not even get to think through, Zine thought.
“But we should properly go through the paperwork, have me understand the rules, go over some kind of plan before we actually decide anything, and I would like at least five minutes to process everything I just saw in the kitchen.”
“Oh, alright then.” Obsidian agreed, looking relieved.
“We can properly get the papers together and explain the rules after I show you your room.”
“Why not the rules and paperwork before?” Zine asked confused.
“The paperwork is not in order yet but your room is.” Obsidian answered.
“If you need a minute to process things, you can sit down somewhere, I can get you a chair.”
“No, no, it's fine, I think I'll just stand in shock for now.” Zine replied, rubbing his eyes and letting down his hood.
“Are you sure you're ok? I can get you anything you want.” Obsidian said.
Zine looked at the man in front of him, in confusion.
Obsidian was holding his hand and staring at him, worried.
This guy is kind of pushy, and he seemed to be doing anything to keep Zine from leaving. It was like he was literally throwing stuff that Zine might want at him.
It made him feel uncomfortable.
“Yes, I'm fine.” Zine brushed some of his hair behind his ear.
“Your ears….” Obsidian started.
“What? My ears? What about them?” Zine said startled.
“.... They're pointed, like elf ears….” He murmured softly.
“Adorable.” He said as he turned and continued down the hallway.
Da faque? Zine thought.
“Ok here we are.” Obsidian said, stopping in front of a black door.
“My room is right next to yours so if you ever need anything you can come find me. Well...” Obsidian said, letting his hand go and moving out of the way,
“I'll go and organize the paperwork, and you can check out your room.”
He turned, and went the opposite way, disappearing into a random room.
Uhhhhhhhh…… ok…? Am I really going to just go along with this? I was not even given time to talk properly with those other people, he's just whipping me around, all over the place like an excited puppy. I'm not even sure I can handle going to this school or living with other people again. Especially ones I don't know. Even if I'm afraid of living alone, other people scare and annoy me so easily, Zine thought trying to make sense of the situation.
But, it's unnerving knowing that no one else you know is nearby. This entire thing seems fishy. It's an incredible offer, but it could be some kind of scam, he thought in hesitation.
I want to talk more with those people I met. Get a proper feel of them, and see the paperwork before I make any actual major decisions. There could be some sort of loophole in it that could fuck me up in the future….. alright let's just see this supposed room, Zine decided.
He opened the black door, and stood in complete shock.
“What the actual fuck, it's bigger than my entire apartment!” Zine shrieked.
Going inside, Zine closed the door.
It was a giant, electric blue room with a king sized bed at the very end of it. There was a giant screen TV mounted on the wall with a chest before it.
Looking more carefully, he saw the latest game console he had been wanting, on top of it. Along with a copy of Elda Tales, the newest game he was dying to play. He had not been planning to buy either of them because they cost too much.
He looked at the bed, it had his favorite type of blankets on it. Comforters, fuzzy blankets, and…....it had a fuzzy white teddy bear on it.
He felt his heart stutter.
It looked exactly like the one his foster father had ripped and thrown away in a drunken rage, saying it wasn't manly to have a teddy bear.
That bear had been with him since he had lived at the first orphanage he had been dropped off at. A nun had given him it when he was two and it was his first memory.
The bed had a canopy, draping see-through red fabrics. He pushed them to the side and went to touch the bear, stopping himself short.
Don't, just don't, Zine chided himself.
Drawing back, Zine continued to look around the room.
There were four doors he needed to check out yet.
One was a nice closet, with built in dresser drawers for him to hang up or put his clothes in. The next was his own personal bathroom. The tub and shower were huge and separate.
“Oh come on! I could do fucking laps in that tub!” Zine growled.
He looked in the mirror, by the sink and patted down his hair, feeling annoyed that he was getting drawn into all of this. He brushed some of his hair out of the way, looking at his ears.
“How are they adorable?” Zine mumbled.
He moved on to the third door.
Opening it, he could smell junk food. It was a kitchen... It was a fucking kitchen.
Why the hell does this place need more than one kitchen?! Zine huffed to himself.
He went to the gray, stainless steel fridge and opened it. It was stocked with more food than his actual apartments fridge had.
It was all things he liked, mostly junk food of course. But green apples, his favorite coffee drink, and other things he did not recognize but would probably eat, were there too. He checked the pantries, it was the same thing.
Ok I'm both freaked out and awed at this, I probably shouldn't eat anything, Zine thought hesitantly.
His stomach ached in protest.
He had not eaten yet today. He had been planning to go shopping after work and pig out then, but all this happened.
He wanted to so badly. But then, it would be like he was fully agreeing to this situation, and he hadn't even signed anything yet.
Nope, Zine thought as he moved back into the bedroom
I'm not about to get swayed by this yet, I haven't seen any paperwork and the situation has not fully been explained, Zine decided.
He went over to the desk, by the third door, there was a brand new gaming style laptop on it.
Nope, nope, nope…….not ….. going….to be...swayed! He shook his head.
The third door had black curtains covering it. He moved them to the side, it was actually two glass doors with long handles.
He opened one, and took a step out onto a balcony.
He was greeted with a majestic garden.
It had a giant bubbling koi fish pond, and Cherry blossoms along with Willow trees, were swaying in the breeze.
Some of his favorite flowers were blooming around the pond; black, red, and white roses. Butterflies danced near them.
Sunlight cascaded down onto it all.
Not….. going to….. Zine thought.
Then he remembered the laptop.
Pulling out his phone he checked the wifi connection.
(Open wifi...connect?) It blinked at him.
Well….….. welcome to our new home, Zine thought.
