You've made mistakes, and your life has been hard;

a struggle and fight each and every day.

Doing your best never wasting a card,

though each hand dealt often brought you dismay.

We've both had our ups, as well as, our downs;

having spoken words of both love and hate.

This life isn't quite as bad as it sounds;

our family tends to exaggerate.

Of course, that doesn't mean it's all untrue;

but it could have been worse as things unfurled.

I'm a survivor and strong, thanks to you;

and I am proud to be your little girl.
