Old Rev. Parris begins his story in 1798 Pennsylvania with a mysterious traveler and a young man trying to return home to his family. However, there is danger in the surrounding woods near the small town of Constance, where both men are headed.

It's the year 1840 and a rugged and road-weary witch hunter walks into young Rachel's inn. He begins to tell her the tale of his travels, battles with evil, and of the folks in his life that built him up and the ones that nearly tore him to pieces.
This takes place during the days of the early American Republic from the 1790s to 1840.
