He slammed his hand down on the snooze button, groaning as the sun hit his face. He grabbed his phone and turned it on. Almost instantly his screen was filled with millions of messages and notifications. Most are from his friends, bothering him if he’d had a premonition or asking for advice. The others were from the news and other media outlets that explore the town every year. He got up from bed and stretched, readying himself for a busy day.

“Clair!” Someone yelled, chasing him down the street. He moved his glasses up on his face and sighed, he hated it when people came up to him. The person was smiling brightly and bouncing slightly.

“Listen, I know you hate this kind of stuff and all but since you’re the only clairvoyant in town I must ask you a question.” He sighed and put on a smile.

“Of course, ask away.” He said, with a slight sound of hatred. The person beamed and made a small squeal, then readied themselves and cleared their throat.

“Well me and my boyfriend have been going through a hard time and all and it’s just that,” they took a deep breath. “I want to know if it’s going to work.” The person proceeded to tell Clair all the things that had been happening and how those could possibly be bad signs. He managed to drown most of it out and gave this simple answer: “Your future is unclear. I see darkness and that is all. Darkness can only mean the worse.” The person looked fearful and nodded, waving goodbye. Clair scoffed. Their relationship was fine, the boyfriend was gonna come out of the closest to her and she was gonna end their friend ship over it. God, you’d think that a town like Voyance would be accepting of gay culture since the town takes in “The weird and unnatural.” But since this place was already unnatural it attracted a lot of religious folks. Clair continued to walk for a while before stepping into the best coffee shop in town. It didn’t have a name so everybody just called it, “The Coffee Shop.” Nobody felt like giving it a proper name. The place was always crowded, filling the air with BO, coffee and the smell of fire. He could never understand the fire part but he liked it anyway, it drowned out the BO. Clair tilted his head back and closed his eyes, letting his third eye open up so he could see into the minds of everyone in the room. He liked being nosey. Everyone respected him that way.

He saw a lot. And by a lot, that meant some pretty kinky stuff. One woman wanted to be screwed by a dog, a man wanted to be inflated until he bursted, a woman was totally thinking of kinky things to do him. It was a lot and this whole town was disgusting. He slowly lowered his head and brought the world back into focus, closing his third eye and opening the others. Everyone had back away and was staring at him. He quickly made something up.

“A stranger has fallen from the sky.” He lied, adding some drama to it. “They’re in a field and badly injured, we must look for him.” They all nodded and quickly left the shop. All that was left were him and the baristas. He smirked and walked straight up to the counter.

“You’re evil Clair.” The Barista said, making my usual coffee order.

“I do try.” He smirked, tipping her a twenty as he left with his drink.

Clair walked around the town. It was always quiet at this time so he enjoyed these moments the most. But that was quickly ruined once he heard the ambulance wailing through the street, people were running towards the empty field. Something was telling him to follow them so he did. News vans were parked all around the site. They were all talking about the same thing: “A strange being has been found on the ground; just as hometown psychic Clair had foretold this morning…” Fuck. He thought, his fib became a reality. He never thought it would actually happen, he had cried wolf before and everyone knew it was a lie but this time, they actually believed him. He could only assume that this was some sort of punishment for lying so much. He couldn’t help the fact that the people here were so gullible. He had to take advantage of it. A few people came up to him, congratulating him on tell them about the being from the sky. Saying, that if they hadn’t known that it probably would’ve died. He forced a smiled and nodded, thanking them. He tried to shove his way closer up front but the cops stopped him and pushed him back. He grumbled and sat back on some rocks. Waiting till everything cleared.
