Starboy finds himself in a precarious position

The Buck Rogers collection that I was obsessively reading had a bunch of serials that begin or ended mid-story. I'm not sure they were intended to begin in situ, but this opening was. Really, it was a set up for a two-panel joke about deus ex machina in sci fi, but perhaps I am giving away the punchline a panel too early!
