The chase was on as the demonic avian beast spread its dark aura across the skies, soaring its way to Orville J. Redmonn High, with Matthew and Scruffles trailing right behind.
"C'mon! We have to move! That thing is going to reach the school at any minute!” Matthew barked as Scruffles trudged behind him.
"I'm trying! But my tiny legs weren't built for such speeds!" Scruffles retorted.
"You're a cat! You run faster than most dogs on the planet, so let's go!" Matthew barked in a rebuttal. He stops and hunches in a way that causes Scruffles to hop over the dog and run ahead of him.
Matthew and Scruffles followed the beast as it flies across town to Orville J. Redmonn High, avoiding cars that speed over them and hoping that none of them would run them over. Drivers and passengers suddenly speed, drift, and spin-out at the sight of the beast, watching its claws scratch up different buildings and tear down sights that happen to be in its way. The avian beast swiped through a nearby statue of the town's landmark as it slides half of its stone body off of its pedestal and fall to where Matthew & Scruffles are running. Matthew gasps and yells, "Watch OUT!" before crouching on his hind legs and tackling Scruffles before the statue could crush her. Matthew gets up and off of Scruffles and holds her up.
"You alright?" Matthew asks in a worried tone.
"Boy, you're a crazy little pup to tackle me," Scruffles responds as she gets up then restarts the chase, "C'mon!" Matthew sighs as he began to pursue the beast once again. Thankfully, they're in near reach of Sonia's school.
Meanwhile, Sonia droned through her science class, trying to keep focused without any thought of these strange occurrences that are happening to her. Suddenly, her amulet suddenly flashes red through her blouse. Mr. Takegawa noticed this and notified Sonia, "Ms. Hardell. If that's your phone emanating that strange red glow, please put it away."
"Maybe it's to notify when she has her period," Cindy, who sat in the back of her class, muttered to one of her diva cronies.
"Ooh girl, you're cold as ICE," the reprehensible diva snarked back. Sonia tried to hide away the necklace in her blouse, but it glowed brighter and brighter. Sonia took off the necklace, only for the crystal to tint the classroom in a shade of red as she tried to hide it until eventually placing the mystical gem into her indigo backpack. The backpack may glow red, but it wasn't enough to distract the classroom anymore. Sonia quickly looked up with her hands joined together firmly on her desk as she gave the teacher an awkward smile, glancing at her other classmates, with small gulps along.
Having no other option, Sonia shakily raised her hand and asked her teacher if she could use the bathroom while coming up with an excuse that she's having... "Woman problems." The teacher begrudgingly lets her go as she quietly took up her backpack, and headed out of the class, with a snickering Cindy watching her every fumbling move. Instead of the bathroom, Sonia moved to a quiet section of the school's many hallways. A place where no student ever really occupies. There, Sonia took out her necklace and shook it rapidly.
"C'mon what's wrong with this thing," a disturbed Sonia commented. She tries to shake it, slap it, patty-whack it, and other manners until Sonia had no choice to call for Feliferi. The call causes the amulet to unleash a long beam from the necklace to the ceiling of the hallway. A silhouette formed as Feliferi stepped out and stands in front of Sonia.
"Feliferi, Wuh-wuh-what happened?!" Sonia rambled in a whispered tone, "I was in class, and the necklace started glowing, and it distracted the class, and I nearly lost you! Why did the amulet start to glow like that all of a sudden?!" Feliferi began to speak, but carefully shushes her and asks her to turn down her glowing white aura around her due to the sounds of a teacher's footsteps walk by. Sonia and Feliferi hide behind an edge of the hallway as Sonia takes a peek to watch the teacher pass by. The teacher waited until the elevator came until she headed inside of the car and used it to go back upstairs. As soon as the elevator doors shut, Sonia allowed Feliferi to speak.
"The amulet will release a signal to signify a call to you. There is danger approaching," Feliferi explained, "This is a moment that cannot be put on hold. A demon is coming, and you are the only one with the power to destroy it." Sonia was taken aback as her eyes bulged out wide enough that someone could pluck them out of her head with ease.
"I-I’m sorry..." Sonia says as she gently rubs her ear as she tries to comprehend the goddess's words, "I'm not sure if you said that correctly, but... did you say I have to..." Sonia gulps before she could say the last few words of her sentence as her skin turned very pale, "K-kill... A demon...?" Feliferi nodded slowly, reaffirming her statement. This made Sonia both scared and angry to the point where she was ready to flip out.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO KILL A DEMON?!?!?!" Sonia screamed through whispering, "I-I-I don't know how to FIGHT! THE ONLY WAY I WAS STILL ALIVE BECAUSE YOU PROTECTED ME! What, am I supposed to use my BARE HANDS?!"
"Settle, young child," Feliferi softly laughs as she knocks the bottom of her staff on the ground, "For you do not have to fight alone. I will still be here to protect you via the amulet. This sacred weapon will guide you through this and many battles that will come ahead." Feliferi then waves her staff over the amulet, causing the red crystal to glow and through the mysterious folds of her powers, a magic sword rises before her.
"A sword...?" Sonia questioned in slight fear, "but I'm... I'm... inexperienced."
"I know you are, child. But as long as you hold onto the sword, you will have the powers of a great warrior. Possessing and performing feats unimaginable, you will be almost unstoppable to any force. However, the powers will only be connected with the necklace. If at any moment in which the amulet is a certain feat away from your vicinity, you will revert back to your ordinary form and be vulnerable to any attack. Sonia nods her head slowly in both fear and slight confidence as she stares into Feliferi’s eyes. An aura of hope surrounds the young girl as the goddess began instilling her confidence.
However, a sudden explosion is heard, and the sound of a group of teens screaming at an alarming rate notify that-
“Something’s WRONG!” Sonia exclaimed. The ceiling cracks above Sonia and Feliferi, sprinkling pebbles of caulk on the both of them.
“It is time,” Feliferi speaks as she heads back into the amulet, “I will be here to provide as much assistance as I can.”
“B-But can’t you stop it?” Sonia queried anxiously, clutching the handle of her newfound weapon.
“I cannot….” Feliferi lowered as she speaks from the red gem inside the amulet, “Ever since Solaria weakened me... my powers have become weak. It is up to you now. You are the only one who can save your world and possibly the universe from Solaria’s wrath. Life will be an evil challenge. but through every evil comes a great hero, no matter how big, how small, or how daunting they might be. Be courageous, but never stop being yourself.” Sonia’s eyes widen in inspiration as her face grew more confident as she grips her new found sword tight, puts the amulet-connected necklace around her neck and ran upstairs to confront the vile beast. Sonia ran upstairs as fast as she could as she heard more screams of more teens. Once she made it upstairs, she instantly found her cat and dog hiding behind a corner.
“MATTHEW?! SCRUFFLES?! What are you two doing here?!” Sonia yelled, causing the demon to throw down a set of children that it was about to devour, and stare deathly at the trio viciously.
“Oh great. GREAT. WAY TO BLOW OUR COVER, GINGER.” Scruffles retorted harshly. The demon stood firm as its height and sheer weight nearly breaks through the roof of the school. Its dark red eyes take full focus onto the amulet as it hangs down Sonia's fragile neck. Sonia stands firmly in her place, positioning herself into a fighting stance. Both her hands clutch on the sword as she points it straight at the demon. Although Sonia stood there with bravery coursing through her veins, her conscious quivered with fear. Her heart raced, her organs pounded through her skin, and she looked ready to scream at any minute. The demon unleashes its claws, intakes a large breath before erupting an ear-deafening roar. The beast charges at Sonia, ready to strike in its deadly, malicious ways.
