"SPIDER! That's a spiderweb, D'arcy!" I yell, flailing my arms around as I walk right into the trap. The small, wispy strings latch onto my face. This is it. I am going to die. I knew it would end like this-
"You wanted to see the tunnels," he sighs, stopping in his tracks. He turns toward me, making sure I haven't veered off course.
I glare at him as pick at my shirt, trying to make sure there isn't a little demon spider crawling on me, "You said they weren't creepy."
"They're not."
"What part of dark, old, moldy tunnel isn't creepy?" I snap. I attempt to shake the remaining webs off my hands.
"Isn't intriguing," He says, offering a hand.
I stare at his open palm, unimpressed. "What?"
"What part of a dimly lit, stone passage tucked away in the most secret corners of an ancient castle, isn't intriguing?"
I just stare at him in silence for a moment. Seriously? Finally I speak up, "The palace isn't ancient."
His hand falls to his side, "You're no fun."
I roll my eyes as I start down the slope (the ground in the tunnels isn't very even). It was steep, dipping into a lower part of the passageway. D'arcy offers his hand again, and this time I accept it. I take a few more steps and lose my footing. Next thing I know I'm bumping into D'arce, and his arm hooks around my waist to catch me.
"Are you alright?" He asked, looking down at me.
Well... this awkward. Why is he still holding me? C'mon Gypsy, say something.
"If... If I say I broke my leg can we leave?"
"If you say that, I'll have to carry you back."
My face turned cherry red, "Youknowwhatitsfeelingbetter."
I pull out of his arms, cutting in front of him and starting down the path.
I hear him sigh dramatically, "I'm sorry."
"Shut up D'arcy."
"We'll go if you insist."
"Too late D'arcy," I yell back, rounding a corner. "I've already got this all planned out."
I hear his footsteps echoing as he speeds up to catch me, "What plan is that?"
"We're going to get lost down here, I'm going to starve to death, and as soon as you find your way out you'll have to be like-" I suck air in through my teeth and begin my best Col accent, "Sorry dad, accidentally killed that one." I turn and go down yet another passage, "Then you'll be sorry."
"Is that so?" He asks, still falling behind.
"Yes."
I turn another corner and see a door in front of me. Finally! Time to exit.
D'arcy finally manages to catch up. My hand's already turning the knob when I hear him say, "Gypsy, wait!"
But I'm already inside.
