“Ma’m can you tell us if anything was stolen?” A police officer asked a woman, her worried face paling as she noticed the other officers asking more guests… The entire hotel a buzz in the lobby as everyone’s valuables were stolen.
“My pearl necklace. I put it in the safe though, this has to be someone from the hotel!” The woman fumed!
“Ma’m please calm down, we will find the thief!” The man’s accent rustic and in a way charming.
“I can’t believe the thief would go after the same hotel for the fifth time!” A rookie exclaimed gossiping with a few other cops after finishing questioning the hotel guests.
“Either a really stupid thief or a very prideful one, thinking he can get away with it!”
“Ya’man! Them lovebirds said he jumped!” A police officer said, taking advantage of the hotel snacks put out for the guests.
“Best yet, that none of the passwords were reset! That thief sure good at cracking safes! Gossip was.
“But way only take jewelry? It not easy to sell when the whole island knows! No cash has been taken, ever!”
“Man, if I can get me hands on just one of ‘ese richies safes I’ll quit work! They keep thousands in cash in there, thinking our l’il island have no ATM!”
“At least we can’t complain work is dull!” The officers gossips were mainly ignored as some guest stormed to their rooms, others complained to the desk, demanding full reimbursement…
“Sorry, but the room lease clause clearly states that we aren’t responsible for any items that may end up missing or stolen, it is why there’s a safe provided!” An elderly lady tried to explain.
“Screw the safe! Half of the people here’s stuff was stolen from the safes!”
“Sir please calm down.” A man stepped up to take over seeing the lady starting to breakdown, not comfortable with the man’s yelling.
“Go find Shore, she can handle them better than any of us!” He whispered to the lady, and with a nod she was gone.
